Second-year Transformational Experience Program

Campus Partners

As part of The Ohio State University's ongoing commitment to redefining the student experience, the university engaged faculty, staff, and students in creating a transformational second-year program designed to lead to higher retention and graduation rates, to improve student engagement and satisfaction, and to promote post-graduation success. The Second-year Transformational Experience Program (STEP) is administered through a partnership between the Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Student Life.

Opportunities to partner with STEP

  • Student Recruitment Efforts: From academic advisors to survey classes, STEP looks to partner with colleges and departments to recruit participants for the upcoming year.

  • Professional Development Co-Curriculars: A cornerstone of STEP is connecting second-year students with meaningful co-curricular experiences on campus that support their development, encourage skill development, and provide opportunities for personal reflection.

  • STEP Expo Reviewer: After the completion of their STEP Signature Project, students report back publicly to the university. STEP connects with faculty and staff as STEP Expo reviewers to engage with these students regarding their experience.

We are able to share the benefits of STEP to your survey course, student organization and more! STEP's impact on students could not be achieved without connections with individual campus partners, departments, colleges and community partners. If you are interested in learning more about a partnership with STEP, or would like to request a presentation, please email us at step@osu.edu.
