Cohort Meetings
During the autumn semester, cohorts of 15 students meet weekly with the Faculty Mentor to focus on personal development, career exploration, wellness and community building. Faculty Mentors will work with the students on introducing the six STEP Signature Project categories and how these relate to their personal and professional goals. They will also guide students toward learning outcomes including: developing strategies for building relationships with peers, accessing campus resources, self-reflection, and goal-setting.
In order to explore resources on campus and in the community, mentors plan a variety of excursions such as:
-
Group meals at popular Columbus locations such as the North Market and Buckeye Donuts
-
Seasonal activities like Pumpkin Carving
-
Community Service Projects
-
Visits to important campus landmarks like the Orton Geological Museum, Ohio Stadium, Wexner Center for the Arts and the Planetarium
Hear from previous STEP Students about their cohort experiences:
- "STEP allows students to connect with others that they may not have met if they had not participated. You learn so much more from the people around you because your cohort is full of diverse individuals and perspectives." - Allison Sanders
- "I learned so much about myself in my weekly cohort meetings, and my project was absolutely life-changing. My STEP mentor was so kind and helpful, and I definitely enjoyed working on my project and talking with other fellow students about their goals and interests each week. Everyone should sign up for this amazing program!" - Danica Lipp
